Wheel Chair Van for Transporting Mitzi

My name is Michael Girton and I am the primary caregiver for my wife Mitzi. Mitzi is fully disabled, both cognatively and physically due to Multiple Sclerosis. Untill she became too sick to do so, Mitzi was a stay at home mom and homeschool teacher. As a result she never earned the necessary work credit to get Social Security Dissability benifits, nor does she qualify for SSI. This means that we have to find a way to pay for all the things insurrance does not.

A few years ago, I was able to modify our van to accomodate Mitzi's wheelchair, but the van is beginning to show its age with over 170,000 miles on the odometter. The cost of a new vehicle modified for wheelchair use is between $60,000 and $90,000 so I will be looking for a late model used vehicle, but the expense is still considerable.

One of the things I have had to learn over the last few years is to ask for help and not try to cary the entire burden of Mitzi's care myself. As a teacher, I make enough money to keep our bills paid, but there is no money left over for a car payment, so I'm asking for your help.
