Medical expenses

I'm setting up this page to help with medical expenses for Payton Cowan. She is the daughter of Amanda Hartje and Jay Cowan. This will be used for medical expenses and expenses accrued during Paytons care. Any donations would be greatly appreciated for this beautiful little girl.

Payton was born with hydronephrosis and cloacal malformation, a defect in females. The rectum, vagina and urinary tract are fused together creating a single common channel. This happens in early stages of pregnancy and has no known cause. It effects 1 in 20,000 new borns.

Payton was born December 29th 2020. Shes has had a total of 6 surgeries, most recent being reconstructive to create 3 separate openings. The projected 8 to 10 hour surgery became an over 16 hour surgery which put Payton into renal failure. She was placed on dialysis for 2 weeks. Her last hospital stay was a total of 4 weeks. Payton kidneys have gained function with the help of a nephrostomy tube placed in her kidneys.

Though Payton has many more surgeries and a long road to go, her doctors at The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital are hopeful she will be able to live a normal life.
