Retinitis Pigmentosa is an inherited retinal disease that is responsible for gradual decline in vision. RP attacks and kills the cells of the retina lining located in the back inside wall of the eye. Seeing depends on these "rod and cone" photoreceptor cells to transmit lighting information to the brain from the retina.
Since being diagnosed as a child, RP has posed many challenges for Dayde during her lifetime including retiring from her career as a cosmetologist with her own salon in her early thirties, and giving up driving. Even though she loses more and more sight every day, she coped, and inspiringly carried on, all the while raising a family and continuing on bringing joy to this world.
The inevitable future for her eye condition is that her eyes will eventually succumb to complete darkness. Dayde has seen this scenario play out through her diminishing peripherals. Her father Jimmy has become blind due to RP, and for so long she has accepted this as her future also.
She had accepted this as her future, because before now there has been little hope for a "fix" for RP. So, it is not surprising that since finding out about The Stem Cell Rejuvenation Center in Phoenix, Arizona, who are practicing Adipose stem cell therapies with promising results, she has decided to undergo stem cell therapy treatment. The treatments they are practicing are "Adipose" therapies, which means the stem cells are derived from the patients living tissue in an simple office procedure. The stem cells come from the patients own body, not an outside source. The aim of the treatments are to attempt to restore her previous vision loss, or at least prevent more of her vision from being lost. Dayde is scheduling her first procedure soon because the more retinal cells left to work with the better the chances to achieve positive results.
With the treatments posing no major health risks since it only involves local anesthesia, the only real risk is financial. And it is significant. The set rate for each individual procedure is $7,600.00. None of which is covered by insurance.
It's a shame that the difference between hope and helplessness is written in currency format. Please help Dayde fight her blindness. No amount is too small. Your contribution would mean more to her than you could ever know.
