Kaylee's Journey

Kaylee was diagnosed at the age of 1 with the first know case of #10 parctial chromosome deletion, microcephaly, junior rheumatoid arthritis, rhinitis, sensory processing disorder, pre epileptic, and sleep apnea. We were told that Kaylee would never be able to walk and she proved the doctors wrong at a 2 1/2, now we can't keep up with her. Kaylee is not able to talk she signs and she is very developmentally delayed she is 7 years old now but developmentally 3 1/2 to 4 years old. Kaylee is in kindergarten this year and doing well she has a Para that is with her at all times and I thank God for her every day because Kaylee just adores her. At this time the doctors are unable to tell us what we will deal with in years to come so we just take one day at a time. Kaylee is in therapy 4 days a week and has been since she was 6 months old. Many things are hard for Kaylee she has low muscle tone and has poor balance, this makes it hard for her to be able to play and do things other children her age are able to do. We have been to several specialist throughout the years and finally are able to go to the Mayo Clinic in Rodchester Minnisota in January to do a complete research on her diagnosis. Kaylee is on full diability, but the Mayo Clinic does not accept her insurance so we are going to have to be paying for everything out of pocket and it could end up costing close to $100,000.00. We will have to be there for sure a week and possibly longer. We are so excited to be able to have this opportunity to go find more out about her conditions and be able to get her the best help there is to live the most normal life possible for her.
