The Bregant House, Council Bluffs, IA

Tax deductible
Help Preserve Council Bluffs, a non-profit organization, restore the historic Bregant House, also known as the "Little People's House", in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The house was built in 1912 for former Vaudeville performers Jean and Inez Bregant, and was customized to accommodate their height of 42" and 39" inches respectively.
The house features a fireplace mantle that would be about waist-height on an average-height adult, a built-in china/curio in the Dining Room, and a four foot long, claw foot bath tub. The light switches and thermostat were also placed lower to accommodate their height.
The house is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a local landmark in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The National Register nomination suggests this is the only house of its kind in the United States. Restoration work will include; rebuilding the front porch, painting the exterior to original colors, restoring bathroom and recreating Mrs. Bregant's "modern kitchen".
