There is quite a controversy over who quoted "Go out
into the world and preach the gospel, and, if necessary use words" It is
attributed to St. Francis of Assissi, but scholars have searched all his works
and those words are nowhere to be found.
Regardless of who spoke them, these words resonate to missionaries in
China.
My name is Noeris Gil, I'm 24 years old and I am a med student. About 7 years ago, I had the privilege to fly to China on a missionary trip with the YWAM organization. We were a group of about 25 students from all different parts of the world. At first, I was very hesitant to go to China, first because I was only 17, and second because I don't like Chinese food or using latrines. But, the Lord knew that I needed to see the reality of those across the world. I learned then that God is, above all things, good and because of His goodness He is worth surrendering to. To my surprise God called me again six months later, this time with no hesitation, instead with the conviction that Jesus died on the cross for the Chinese as well.
Coming back to the United States, I figured I was to do my schooling and move on with my life, missions would be something of the past and I was to live a "normal" life. Little did I know that He would call me again to preach His gospel 8,000 miles away.
This time I will be accompanying a missionary friend of mine. At the end of January she holds a winter vacation camp for children where they are taught morals and principles that will help them live lives with integrity. You see, since China is a communist country the mention of God or any relation to Him, being a missionary and preaching the gospel is prohibited and in most severe cases punishable by death. This is why we will teach the principles of the bible without the mention of such. And we will pray that in God's infinite mercy He will reveal himself to them through the new principles learned.
I'm very excited for the opportunity and the experience ahead. My desire is that you may see the value in what I'm doing in the extension of God's Kingdom and join me in the process. As you may imagine a trip of this extent has a high cost. I need to raise a total of $3,500, this will include the Visa, airfare, accommodation, and food. If you are able to support me financially, I would greatly appreciate it. However, if you can't support me financially I know that you can help me in prayer. This is most important! God has been and always will be faithful, He will provide. But, it's your job to pray in a way that will move His heart. I believe in you and in your prayer!
