This is Ryder (my little buddy Slug) a very handsome, smart, and energetic 7 year old boy, who froths football and riding motorbikes. While he and his family were travelling around Australia he became extremely unwell and was rushed to hospital for suspected appendicitis. Soon after, Ryder and his family were shocked with the devastating news that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 Wilms Tumour in his kidney and spots also detected in his precious little lungs. The nearest hospital with suitable treatment and professional care is in the Perth Children’s Hospital. It’s critical he undergo intense chemo therapy to hopefully shrink the Tumour enough to surgically remove it before he can return home to reunite with his brothers and sisters and complete the rest of his chemo and radiation in Sydney. His beautiful mother and father are by his side everyday with the help of the Ronald McDonald house, but divided by the width of the country to their support network at this crushing time. Ryder is not only having to fight the biggest Battle of his life, which no child should ever have to go through but he will also suffer with side effects of chemo and radiation and lose all his hair.This family is so dear to me and I just couldn’t sit back. I want actively set a goal to raise funds of $10,000 to help Ryder. If you help me reach this target of $10,000 I will shave off my long luscious blonde hair to celebrate. The reason I am doing this is for two reasons, I want Ryder and all others in this situation to know I am supporting them! Hair is hair at the end of the day. What matters most is the beauty and the strength you have on the inside to fight this battle for life. I initially wanted to raise money to support Ryder and his family. This beautiful family instead have insisted that all proceeds I raise will go to the Ronald McDonald house. Truely amazing!!! This charity is extremely close to my heart after having spent 4 months in the Ronald McDonald house when my son was born 25 weeks premature and extremely ill. The Ronald McDonald house is a non for profit organisation who rely purely on donations to help those family’s who’s children are seriously ill. This enables families to stay by the sides of their loved ones in need whilst they are in hospital, providing the comforts of a home in these desperate times of need. I can’t do this with out your help!!! Ryder and many other children just like him need their families by their side to feel supported and safe in what I only imagine to be the most terrifying time of their lives. $10,000!!! And a freshly shaved head is worth it to show support and help Ryder along the way! So please give generously and dig deep to support this cause. Once the goal is Reached not only will you get to witness my long locks getting shaved off, I will also dontate my hair to charity.
