Giving to one of OUR own...

This message comes to you with sadness as one of our sisters has just lost her mother. Just a couple of weeks ago, Shantae's mother got to visit her in DC. For the first time, Shantae got to share with her mommy her entire life in DC... her friends, the city, and the family she has made. For a mother to see with her own eyes how incredible her daughter is living and loving life is truly a remarkable experience. As a mother myself, I know the pride she must have felt to see, feel and know how amazing her daughter is... the same daughter we call our sister and friend. I know it touched her and Ms. Edwards KNEW she had done well and that all would be ok. Just last night, Shantae J. Edwards mom, Ms. Marlene Edwards closed her eyes to rest.

Ms. Edwards has battled cancer for many years and now finally she is sleeping without pain or worry. Where she will be forever missed by her children, family and everyone that knew her, we all can rest better knowing her pain has ended.

Tis the season to give. Today I'm reaching out to our family to ask for support. Support for one of our own. Whatever you can give is appreciated. Let's give whatever we can to make this incredibly difficult time a little easier. Let's give so a family can rest a little better. Let's give so a family can spend their time mourning their loss. Let's give because we can; however big or small.
