Help our father get back to Sweden
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nadja, and I live in Sweden. I’m raising funds for my father, who is a Swedish citizen, to cover the costs of his medical care in Dubai and the medical air ambulance.
He traveled to Afghanistan to visit his relatives and became critically ill. It started with severe pain in his legs, leaving him unable to walk. A few days later, he began vomiting, developed a high fever, and struggled to breathe. Despite receiving oxygen and medication, his condition has only worsened.
We believe he may have contracted a lung infection, which is particularly dangerous due to his pre-existing health issues. He has undergone a kidney transplant and also suffers from diabetes. His health has rapidly declined, and he has lost almost 10 kilos, now weighing only 35 kilos.
Unfortunately, the medical care in Kandahar is inadequate for his needs. The only chance to save his life is to arrange for a medical flight to transport him back to Sweden, where he can receive the critical care he requires.
Please help us bring our father home and get him the medical attention he desperately needs before it's too late. Any contribution will make a difference. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
UPDATE
We would like to provide an update regarding our father's current situation and condition. We have successfully arranged for his evacuation from Afghanistan to Dubai via a medical air ambulance, which has incurred significant costs. He is now hospitalized in Dubai, where my brother and I have been able to meet with him.
At the hospital, he is finally receiving the medical care he requires, and we are encouraged to see signs of improvement. However, the healthcare costs in Dubai are extraordinarily high, and we are currently facing considerable financial challenges. We are eager to bring him back to Sweden, where he can receive necessary treatment without the burden of financial stress. Since he is a Swedish citizen, his regular doctors in Sweden are well-acquainted with his medical history and can provide continuity of care. But our father is still unable to walk and remains dependent on supplemental oxygen, which complicates any plans for him to fly to Sweden on a commercial flight.
Our father has experienced severe anxiety during his time in Afghanistan, which has significantly diminished since his arrival in Dubai and our reunion. He has regained his appetite and is eating well, and we have seen him smile and laugh for the first time in a month. Instead of tears of fear, he now expresses tears of gratitude and relief. These positive developments give us hope that we will soon be able to bring him home. We sincerely appreciate the support you have provided during this challenging time; it has given us the strength to continue advocating for his care. Please keep sharing our fundraising so we can bring our father back home to Sweden.
Warm regards,
Nadja and family
