Help, mum, I'm running a marathon!
In January 2022, we lost our beautiful mum, my absolute best friend, Rachel, to cancer. From diagnosis, the palliative care team at Dorothy House were on hand to offer their support, continuously respectful of mum’s wishes and how big or small she wanted the Hospice’s involvement in her end-of-life care to be.
Dorothy House relies entirely on grants from charitable trusts and foundations to stay afloat, with the daily running of the Hospice being upwards of £9,000. They offer many services, from inpatient care to creative art therapies and bereavement counselling. In the hope of contributing a fraction to these huge outgoings, I plan to run the London Marathon 2023 on behalf of Dorothy House.
Here's to hearing my mum's voice of disbelief shouting "how many miles?!" in my head every step of the way!
