Craig was born in Gaylord and raised in Otsego County. He worked for his father in the construction field and continued to do so until June of 2024, when he was diagnosed with Stage 3, Squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx. A week after his diagnosis, he had to go into surgery to have a tracheotomy and peg tube inserted so he could eat. Within a few weeks, Craig went from 160 lbs to 122 lbs. He spent 11 days in the hospital waiting for a room at Henry Ford Hospital. He was finally transported to Detroit where surgery was performed to remove the cancer. While doing the surgery, they had to remove his voicebox so he cannot speak. He has had to have a caregiver/POA to take him to all his appointments in Detroit and his treatments for chemo and radiation in Petoskey. He will have to begin going back to Detroit after he has healed to begin training with a Speech Pathologist/Therapist to learn how to talk again. Being as he was self employed, he hasn't had an income since June. Craig's goal is to get back to work as soon as possible as he loves his work. He has applied for several programs but none of them offer cash assistance which is what he needs to be able to continue his treatments. The funds will go to his outstanding bills that were not covered by his insurance, gas, lodging and food for trips to Detroit. If you could please find it in your heart to make a donation, we would be so grateful for helping us through this very difficult time. Thank you for your donation. Please share.
