Mykael is going to London, England!

Hiya! I just want to take the time to say thank you for visiting my page! Ever since I was in high school, history became a passion of mine! History from just about any time period, but more specifically the course of American History. Because of this passion, I have earned my Associates of Arts in History from University of North Georgia - Gainesville Campus and I am now currently pursuing my Bachelors in History from Kennesaw State University with a minor in American Studies and with hopes for earning my certificate in Public History (museum studies, cool right?).

Now what does going to London have to with my degree? Well, being a history major I like to see how other countries influence the United States and what better place to start than with Great Britain? I thought it would be interesting to look at the beginnings of the United States from the point of view of the English. I have decided to participate in the European Council's Study Abroad Program in London sponsored by Valdosta State University which collaborate with other schools around the state, like Kennesaw State University, Georgia State, Georgia College and State University, Georgia Southern, and other universities. This program would take place from June 26-July 30, 2014 The costs for such a phenomenal program are $5000 but with extra expenses it would be closer to $7000. I would about need $2400 by March 10, 2014 and another $2400 by April 8, 2014. The $5000 will cover accommodations in London, roundtrip airfare from Atlanta to London, a weekend excursion to Hampton Court, two meals a week plus lunch two days a week, and unlimited Tube and Bus Pass around London. I will take two classes while I'm there, Age of Reason; Society, Politics, and Culture and Post-Imperial/Post Colonial Literatures in English.

This will be the first time that I have traveled to Europe and out of the United States and it will be the experience of a lifetime. I am incredibly excited for this opportunity and I hope to bring you along on my travels with updates from London.

As you can see, this trip is a little expensive so I am applying for scholarships and working to try and help pay for it. So what I am asking is for contributions of ANY kind and I would be grateful for any donation and appreciative for your generosity and kindness!

Thank you again,
Mykael Letourneau
