Please help me save my mom!

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter. As many of you may know, my mom was recently diagnosed with stage III throat cancer. This past year has been a tremendous emotional roller coaster for us both. Not only was she diagnosed with this horrible illness; she had to deal with the sudden death of her two sisters. If she does not get the life saving medical treatment she desperately needs she will lose this battle. A piece of my heart is ripped away at the thought of my mom not being there to see me graduate high school, walk down the aisle or give birth to my first child.

Unfortunately, we found out the cancer has spread. It is heartbreaking to watch her struggle this way. She has always been a strong independent woman through all of life's challenges. Somehow she has found the strength to keep going, to push forward and maintain a positive outlook on life. Lately, that has become more and more difficult.

Due to the progression of her illness, my mom spent Thanksgiving in the hospital. My heart melted when I saw her face light up with delight when I walked in the hospital room. It was truly a joy filled moment. The look on her face said it all and the warmth of her embrace soothed me.

Today, she is out of the hospital and in the comfort of her own home. Sadly, alternative care and medicine are more than we can afford. I am currently looking for a part time job to help with expenses. In the meantime, I ask that you look into your hearts and stand with us as we fight this battle.
