BELIEVE We Can End The Violence

Donation protected
This is a campaign to support survivors of sexual and domestic violence because so many times when sexual violence is present, domestic violence is present as well. 100% of the proceeds go to survivors and efforts in raising awareness. My goal is to raise enough money annually to be able to give back to at least one entity in all 50 states that assists survivors.

According to the national center for victims of crimes, studies conducted by David Finkelhor, Director of the Crimes Against Children Research Center, show that:
• 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse;
• Self-report studies show that 20% of adult females and 5-10% of adult males recall a childhood sexual assault or sexual abuse incident;
• During a one-year period in the U.S., 16% of youth ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized; • Over the course of their lifetime, 28% of U.S. youth ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized; • Children are most vulnerable to CSA between the ages of 7 and 13.

95 percent of sexually abused children will be abused by someone they know and trust (NAPCAN 2009).

Of those molesting a child under six, 50 percent were family members. Family members also accounted for 23 percent of those abusing children 12 to 17 years (Snyder, 2000).

RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization statistics state that every 98 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. Every 8 minutes, that victim is a child. Meanwhile, only 6 out of every 1,000 perpetrators will end up in prison.

My name is Kristen Kelly. I write songs and I sing them. I have another story to tell. I am a sexual abuse survivor and I was told “no one will believe you”. The man who molested me for many years when I was younger was someone I knew personally and trusted. He used to be my stepfather and he’s been living out the rest of his life behind bars since being convicted in 2001 because I was brave enough to speak up and someone BELIEVEd me.

In 2014 I launched my BELIEVE by Kristen Kelly line benefitting survivors of sexual/domestic violence. My line includes t-shirts, jewelry, keychains, wine glass charms and hopefully someday my own wine. All pieces include my Believe tattoo design which I designed on a sticky note Jan 3, 2011 and later got tattooed on the inside of my right wrist on Apr 22nd, 2011 ...the day I signed my first record and publishing deal in Nashville.

STILL I WANT TO DO MORE...

By doing more I’m starting with putting on a one day festival style show in my hometown of Lorena, TX on Sat Aug 4th, 2018. This will be the first of what I hope to be an annual event benefitting survivors. Who knows...maybe we can put an event on in all 50 states once a year. I BELIEVE if you build it they will come.

With all that being said...after many years of praying for a way to give back to survivors like myself...I’m speaking up again. This time on a public level. I’m sharing my story and beginning a new chapter in my survival by asking you to join me in my efforts to support other survivors. Build it with me by attending the first event Sat Aug 4th, 2018 and/or by donating here.

Let’s encourage others it’s ok to speak up...someone will BELIEVE them.

MUCH LOVE & GOD BLESS.

Kristen
