Tell the Bullies NO - Lachlan Rome 2014

We are a family of 4 boys. Three of our boys have special needs with one in particular who is so severely Autistic that he is non-verbal and requires an extremely high level of care. He is 8 years old with a determined intellectual age of a 2 year old. We live with Autism, Epilepsy, Juvenile Diabetes, global development delay and sensory processing disorders.
My son Lachlan is the 2nd oldest child in the family and the only one who does not have medical issues. Lachlan is 12 years old and has spent most of his youth helping his brothers, caring for them, helping us and selflessly giving up so much of his youth and own interests because there is never much money left after covering the other boys necessary therapies, etc. Lachlan truly is the epitome of a young carer having to help with responsibilities that most adults could not handle.
When Lachlan was 6 he spent a terrifying year at school being bullied mercilessly. He was so ashamed he told no-one and it was only after seeing bruises all down his back one day after a shower that I got him to open up and tell me what was going on. It would appear that the kids at his school thought it was cool for 2 of them to hold my baby down while the others took turns kicking into him (it still makes my chest hurt when I think of that time).
These little psychopaths thought is was OK to verbally abuse him,
exclude him from all games, take turns running up behind him when he was not looking and jumping on his shoulders while kneeing him in the back (the evidence was the bruising the covered his back). My husband and I tried everything through the school but it became apparent that the school did not care and were not going to put a stop to the bullying. We decided to find another school for Lachlan and finally decided to moved our family to another State closer to family support. During the first week in our new town, Lachlan noticed a sign advertising Taekwondo lessons. We took one look at his face after he asked to attend the Taekwondo School and we could not sign him up quickly enough.
Lachlan has attended EVERY single class since his enrolment he never misses a grading and he has been practicing his art, learning and living by it's teaching ever since. Lachlan has a beautiful soul, he is amazingly gentle and kind but he is now also strong confident and very capable. He does not tolerate bully's and is always the first to stand up for kids who are enduring bullying.
The last 2 weeks has seen Lachlan successfully grade for his 2nd dan black belt (at the age of only 12!). He also attended the Australian National Taekwondo Titles in Canberra where he placed for medals in EVERY single event he competed in (competing against students upwards of 17 years old because of his belt ranking). Monday the 2nd of December we got the AMAZING news that Lachlan has been selected for the Australian Taekwondo Team. His dream to represent his country has now become a reality and he has been asked to compete in Rome at the World Taekwondo Titles next July 2014.
Now comes the arduous task of finding the money to get him there.
There is never enough money left each week to raise the sort of money it will take to get Lachlan to Rome. We are hoping there are people out there with hearts as big as Lachlan's who would be willing to help a very special young man prove to the world that ANYONE who has the courage, determination and works hard enough can overcome all obstacle's and reach the pinnacle of not only their chosen sport but also their own personal challenges.
