Kristin's Volunteer Work in Africa

Hello everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read my page, it means a lot to me. I am planning a six month volunteer trip to Africa. I have waited a long time to take this trip, and I could not be more excited!
My passion for Africa began six years ago, when I took my first volunteer trip there by myself. I decided to go because I was having a hard time understanding why bad things happen to good people. It's not an easy question to answer, and I can't say that I am any closer to having the answers. With this in mind, I decided to do something to help. I chose to go volunteer in an area which sees a lot of heartache. I was hoping to help where I could, and to learn from people who overcomes great adversity in their lives. It was an experience that changed my life forever.
It didn't take long for me to fall in love with the people, culture, and landscape. I met people who had experienced so much pain and anguish, yet carried their past with amazing strength and grace. My eyes were opened to so much that had been previously oblivious to me.
I loved it so much that as soon as I returned to America, I began saving for my next trip. It took a year to save. I worked hard and never stopped thinking about the people's stories that had impacted me so greatly.
I finally saved enough for my second trip, and returned for four months. During that time, my love for Africa and its people grew stronger. I volunteered with hospitals, orphanages, and survivors of gender violence. Each area was challenging and heartbreaking, but I was so blessed to have the opportunity to help.
After I returned, I went to nursing school to expand the areas in which I could help others. Since then, I have done work in my own community, but the people of Africa have never left my heart. It has been three years since my last visit, and I finally feel like I have enough experience to return. I have been planning a trip to Uganda and Ghana. In Uganda, I am planning to work at a clinic that gives aid to refugees from Sudan, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and internally displaced people. In Ghana, I am planning to work with children rescued from human trafficking.
Airfare, travel insurance, and vaccinations alone will cost roughly $4300. Volunteering in Ghana will cost $1350, and Uganda will be a minimum $500. I travel cheap to cut my expenses down. I stay in low budget, but safe accommodations. I have been saving for this trip, but costs add up very quickly. Please help me as I try to help the people of Africa. Anything you could find in your heart to give would be a huge blessing. I greatly appreciate your generosity; you will never know how much it means.
