Baby Teresa & Family

Hi all! For those who don’t know me, I am Lauren’s first cousin Rob. First of all, we all know how expensive medical bills are usually. They are outrageous. Add that together with tons of other tests and surgeries, and that’s where Lauren and Jack are right now with baby Teresa. Baby Teresa had it tough from the start. About 5 months into Lauren’s pregnancy, she found out the baby had developed congenital diaphragmatic. A CDH is a hole in the diaphragm (the muscle under the lungs that is responsible for breathing) that allows organs from the abdomen to move into the chest. CDHs affect about one in every 2,500 babies. It makes it almost impossible for the baby to breathe on her own. They had a surgery planned for the baby, but had to delay it because her lungs filled with fluid. At this point, they had to hook her up to an ECMO machine, which her oxygen in her blood is improving. If her numbers stay good, then she can possibly have surgery this week to repair the hole. It has been very rough on the family, and Jack will have to be going back to work soon, which is 3 hours away from the hospital. With no work, comes no pay. 3 hours is a long commute to work and then back to the hospital. My heart breaks for these two. I wanted to start this fundraiser for Lauren and Jack to help them out financially so Jack can stay at the hospital a little longer to be with Lauren and his beautiful daughter.
