Right now, Betty's world of daydreaming in nature, creative cooking, and visiting family and friends has been turned upside-down. After getting the scary news that bladder cancer was beginning to spread into the muscle lining of her bladder, she made an overnight move to California to investigate treatment options through Stanford.
In California her spirits have been lifted by the support of her mother and sisters even in the face of adversity. She arrived days before the Sonoma County fires began. She spent the days after her first chemo treatment camping in style with family, because they had to evacuate her sister's house in Sonoma. Fortunately, Diane's house did not burn down.
With Tony by her side, Betty has been searching for a short term living situation - a comfortable place to undergo her treatments. The fires have created long waiting lists and rent inflation, there is nothing livable under $2500 per month. During a time when she needs more rest and nourishment than ever, Betty is living out of a suitcase and to say the least, is feeling unsettled.
The protocol for her stage of bladder cancer is chemo and bladder removal surgery (which involves the removal of many other things!), our hope is that together we can help Betty get settled and fund exploration of less invasive alternative treatments.
