Support Lomira Police Dept K9 Unit

The Lomira Police Department is excited to announce a new opportunity to improve our community and keep its citizens safe. We are now reaching out to you, the community to ask for your help as we are now doing fundraising for a Police K9 program within the Lomira Police Department. We intend to add a trained and certified dual-purpose K9 to our agency. I feel that we can continue to make Lomira and the surrounding areas a safer place to live, visit and raise a family. The reasoning for the addition of a K9 to our agency is that crime has been increasing within the Village of Lomira and surrounding areas and we believe the K9 will become a great asset in order to help us combat crime. At the end of our training a dual-purpose K9 and the officer will be able to assist other officers in the following areas: location of drugs in vehicle and building, building searches, criminal apprehension, tracking (both criminals and others who are lost and in danger), and handler protection, as well as for informational programs that will help the citizens of this community. While we have been planning to have a K9 join our team, we have been searching for the right fit as far as where we receive the K9 from and the officer to train with the K9. At this time we have selected to work with “Jessiffany Canine Services, LLC” out of Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, to obtain the K9 from and successfully train the dog. We have found that their services will best fit our needs for this training. Jessiffany Canine Services are very qualified and have an excellent reputation in training K9 dogs for law enforcement not only within the area but across the United States. It is with the above in mind that we ask for your support. We have submitted grant applications to help us achieve our goal. The K9 program will be financed strictly through grants and donations. At this time our goal is to raise an additional $30,000. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

I believe it is important for the community to understand what their donations will fund. The following items will need to be purchased to start our program: a trained dual-purpose K9, basic K9 handler course and certifications for the officer and necessary equipment for the K9, such as a ballistic vest, vehicle insert design for transport when the K9 is working, as well as food and medical care for the animal. If you can donate in any way to this program, please contact the Lomira Police Department. If you have any questions about donations or the K9 program in general, please feel free to contact me. Thank you and remember, we cannot do this without your support. Let us all work together to make Lomira a safer place.
