help me with getting a service dog

Donation protected
My name is Nicholas and I am a quadriplegic. In April, 2012 I was involved in a dirt biking accident that would change my life drastically. Since I was about 13 years old, my passion has always been riding dirt bikes with my friends. I was a healthy young man graduating from high school in June of 2012, training to be a Navy Seal, which I was leaving for the navy in August, 2012, but my plans changed. I had a tragic accident on April 7th, 2012 which left me as a C-5 quadriplegic.
I have no use of my legs and bare minimal use of my hands; I am however an incomplete spinal cord injury so I do have some feeling. I work with a trainer about two times a week which has given me great strength of my upper body to be able to maneuver my manual wheel chair.

I have been very blessed to have been able to have the experience of paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming in a pool, floating in the ocean, riding a bike and camping; thanks to my family and my neighbors and many others who have made it possible. All the equipment to do many of the things I would like to do is very costly.

One of my hopes in the near future is to be able to get a service dog trained for my needs. They help you with many things such as, opening doors, picking things up for you and companionship, just to name a few. Between the cost of the dog, the training, and the responsibility of taking care of the dogs health, again, it is very costly.

I was trained to be a marine mechanic, and loved tinkering with engines. After much thought I have decided to go back to school for construction technology. I will also be learning to drive in the near future.

As I move forward I am in hopes one day I will be able to live on my own. I stay very positive in hopes I can live as normal of a life as possible.

Life has been different the past year and a half for myself. I've managed to stayed strong and keep moving forward. I have had to learn to live my life all over again from the way I once knew it.
