Our Brother Mark's Knee Surgery

Most of you know our brother, Mark...but for those who don't know him personally, we'd like to tell you about him.

Mark is gentle, kind, compassionate, caring and lives his life around his daughter, Alena. Mark lives for the moment and would give you his last penny if need be. He is truly an amazing caregiver to his family, friends and patients.

Mark recently sustained a serious injury when he slipped on a step in his apartment and landed on his right knee. Following a doctors visit and MRI, Mark needs surgery for a torn ACL, meniscus and cartilage damage. He lives alone and is barely getting around on crutches.

The injury happened in his apartment in New Paltz. Mark works as in independent contractor per diem (1099). He currently does not have health insurance and is not eligible for Medicaid or disability coverage. He is trying to enroll in Obamacare, but as you are aware, the system is not working and even if he gets government insurance, it will not be in time to cover his surgery, which he needs immediately. He also needs support for living expenses as he will not be able to return to work for several months.

Everything he earns goes towards living expenses and to his 14 year old daughter Alena

My sister, Lisa and I are asking for any help you can give us. Unfortunately, this is a situation we are not able to conquer by ourselves or with the help of our mom and stepdad.
