UNT Rugby Trip to Nationals 2018
The Men of the University of North Texas Rugby Program need your help!! My name is Mark Niesman and I'm the father of a student athlete and supporter of the University of North Texas Rugby Program. The student athletes from UNT have been working hard since September. The 15s group went 14-2 for the season along with a dominating 7s team. Accomplishments for the season include winning the Battle of the Boot, the Lonestar Conference 15s Championship, NOLA 7s tournament championship, Kansas City Heart of America 7s tournament Plate division championship and the Lonestar Conference 7s Championship. The Lonestar Conference Championship earned them a spot in the USA Rugby Collegiate National 7s tournament in Glendale, Colorado. A team of 15+ will be travelling beginning May 16th and coming home May 20th or 21st. Matches are Friday May 18th and Saturday May 20th vs the very best of D2 rugby from around the nation. This is the 5th year in row that UNT has qualified for nationals!! The University of North Texas supports their club teams, but school funding for travel is limited and is running low by this point in the season. The team of 15+ and their volunteer staff will be travelling 2000 miles round trip by van/bus and would very much appreciate financial assistance to help cover the cost of meals and other travel expenses for this 6-day trip. Please note the following as required by UNT: 1) We fully anticipate that all funds raised will be used for the D2 USA Rugby national tournament in Glendale, Colorado. In the unlikely event that all funds are not spent for these events, the surplus will be used towards general operating expenses of the club going forward. 2) All donations are made to the sport club designated in the Gofundme drive that is set up as a university student organization. Donations are not considered as official donations to the University of North Texas and donors are not eligible for tax benefits or write-offs from the university.
