On Wednesday, August 15th. 2018, a 23 year old man was driving westbound on Olive street in Spring Valley. At the same time the Magallon family was driving northbound on Bancroft, after leaving their church service. Carlos Magallon, his wife, Carolina, his three daughters Abigail(16), Sarah(13), Karla (6), and a friend of theirs along with his son were in the van heading home when the 23 year old man, driving well past the posted speed limit, ran the stop sign, and collided into the Magallon’s van.
The drivers’ excessive speed not only totaled his own car but he also totaled the van that Carlos was driving. Multiple police officers, firemen, and ambulances arrived onto the scene. The driver who caused the accident and everyone in the van were immediately taken to local hospitals by ambulance. Witnesses at the scene confirmed that the 23 year old man was speeding and failed to stop, changing the lives of the Magallon family forever.
The Magallon family suffered injuries from open wounds, internal blood clots, bruises, and broken bones, but the one who was impacted the most was Sarah, their middle child. Sarah suffered an injury to her spinal cord, it was torn in two, leaving Sarah paralyzed from the waist down. The Operating Doctor said, the surgery was performed not to cure Sarah’s paralysis but to stabilize her spine. Five screws were placed in her back to provide this stabilization.
The Doctors say she will never walk again, but we believe God has the final say so. We believe we serve a God of miracles. We believe everything is possible through God who strengthens us.
Unite with us in prayer that God will have His perfect will in Sarah’s life as she will face some many challenging days ahead. Pray for comfort and strength for the entire Magallon family.
The Magallon family loved God and we know that God also loves them. We lean and trust on His words and promises.
