Help Me Study Abroad to Australia
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Ava, and I am an Animation & Illustration student at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. Since my freshman year, my dream has been to be able to study abroad. I have recently been accepted into the API program and I am excited to experience living in Brisbane at Griffith University for a trimester, studying Animation and Japanese. Griffith is ranked as one of the top animation colleges in the world. The program starts on February 13th. The classes I will take at Griffith will challenge and help me grow as an artist. Griffith has unique classes like CGI sculpting that will help me dive deeper into developing more realistic characters to use in animations. The 2D animation course at Griffith also uses ToonBoom, a well-known animation program for many animators today. This will challenge me to become proficient in multiple programs besides Adobe Photoshop. Lastly, Griffith has a Japanese course that I am looking forward to taking. Northwestern does not have Japanese classes, so I see this class as a unique opportunity for me to become bilingual. Australia is somewhere I would love to go to, and it will be the first time I would get to travel alone and live in a different country. I have never had the chance to stay in another country for an extended period of time.
An opportunity like this is rare for me especially since I am a first-generation college student. My mom never finished college and left during her sophomore year to help her family, and my dad never went to college. My parents are also divorced, and I started living with my mom when I was a preteen. My mom balances two jobs because she wants to help me pursue my dream career of becoming an animator. I am now a junior and both of my parents are proud and ecstatic that I was able to go further than them educationally. They both support my decision to study abroad in Australia if I can get myself there financially.
This is where you guys come in. I need your help in making this dream a reality! The knowledge I would gain from studying abroad would be a stepping stone into becoming the animator that I so long to become. A little bit goes a long way, your donations help give me hope!
