A special Christmas for our sick mom

Hi my name is Lily Macy Schofield

My husband billy Schofield and myself are in a very scary/ difficult time in our lives. We are trying to get home to our very sick mother who lives in Boston Mass. And because of our financial situation we might not be able to be there with her when she needs us most.
We live in Key West, Fl. And would want nothing more than to spend what could be her last Christmas/birthday with her. (Her name is Roberta & her birthday is the day after Christmas)

My mother in law Roberta battled breast cancer 8 years ago and after having mastectomy we were relieved thinking that she had beaten this horrible disease. Boy were we wrong, after dealing with the breast cancer our worst nightmares turned into real life once again.

3 years ago my mum (Roberta) fell down the stairs at her house and hit her head so hard that she needed to be rushed to the hospital. Little did anyone know this would be one of the many trips to come between 3 years ago to now.
The doctors checked her and that's when they discovered the breast cancer had spread to her bones and at this time the doctors predicted she roughly has 3-7 years left with her family.
Later we would find out the cancer spread to her liver too.

3 years ago looking at her people would of had no idea my Berta was sick. She seemed to be beating the odds against her up until the beginning of this year 2013 things started slowly changing for the worst with her body. We are extremely worried. Her on the other hand doesn't let us know anything but happiness.
she is a true survivor. She has been dealing with health issues her whole life starting all the way back to when she was a small child. Having a open heart surgery at the age of 12. This woman is a true fighter and with all her health complications she is always smiling and never complaining.

We are a young hard working family, just like a lot of other families in this economy we are living paycheck to paycheck just barely getting by. That's when a family friend suggested we start this page because the way she put it was "Money Should Not Be The Reason A Family Is Separated At Times Like This"
There are a lot of appeals to help families with final expenses. We want to spend the time we can with her while she is still here. Our family wants to hear voice, hear/see her laughing, feel her hugs and just be around her in person.

It breaks my heart every time we get a call from home with the updates and to watch my strong brave husband fight back the tears and recompose himself.
The doctors told us she has 6 months...6 months to the day that we received the worst news any family should have to hear will be my husband's birthday. It is just heart breaking.

We are proud people but humbly asking for assistance to get home to Boston for this could be our last family Holiday with her.. It would mean so much for my mother in law to have her baby (my husband) home by her side.

If you still have your parents you can surly empathize with our family and if your parents have passed I hope you can sympathize. There are many worthy causes here, I hope and pray people can find it in their hearts to help us get home to visit mom for what could be her last Christmas with her youngest son (my husband) her youngest grandson Patrick (age 5) her oldest grandson Billy (age 16) and me her Mexican princess (that's what she calls me) <3

With this said I have set up a high goal because I'm unsure what will be the total cost to get there and for myself and husband to lose 7-10 days worth of work will be very nerve racking because the bills wont stop coming as well as the bills we are helping Roberta with.

I would like to take this time to say thank you in advance for reading our story. Anything donated to our cause will mean more than you know. This is something that myself, husband and family will always be grateful for. Even if your unable to make a small donation you can still help our cause by passing along our story and sharing it with your friends and family so they can help share with their friends and family.

Thanks again for reading, please keep our family in yours prayers!
