Please support me in making a difference. I am raising money to benefit Cued Speech UK, and any donation will help make an impact. Cued Speech are the only charity in the UK providing family support, training and information to help deaf children see what others are saying. Have you ever sat in a classroom and not really understood what the teacher is saying? I have lots of times; it was one of the reasons I became a teacher. Now imagine you are a child who has not only had to navigate all the issues faced when learning but is also deaf. 70% of deaf children leave primary school with poor or extremely poor reading skills. This hugely impacts on their learning , and their self-esteem, and fosters feelings of inadequacy which can lead to poor and low attendance, disengagement, and not fulfilling their potential. Cued Speech ensures that babies and children can understand language, and they support parents and carers in communicating with their child, particularly when their signing skills are still developing.

I plan to run the London Marathon in early October and then organise a number of fund raising events to help support this amazing charity, which is local to me in Totnes.
