Zoey's Medical Bills...

The short version is... Zoey is really sick, and this is going to cost a bunch of money. Judith needs to concentrate on Zoey's comfort, and not worry about the bunch of money. We need to support Judith, so that she can support Zoey.
Now here's the rest. Judith is my cousin, and she's been running around with big friendly dogs for a very long time. She and her late Gracie used to go visit sick people in the hospital, and they were a wonderful team. Shortly before Gracie died, Zoey came into the picture, and the two of them were quite a team for a moment. Now Gracie is gone, and Zoey is the top dog. All one needs to know about Zoey is that Judith once got a call from the neighborhood bar, informing her that the dog had made her way to a stool there, just in case Judith was looking for her.
Over the past few days, Zoey has been through a whole bunch of tests, culminating in a diagnosis of renal failure. Quoting Judith: "(it) is permanent : kidneys dont recover. If kidneys cant do anything off IV hydration, that's it. BEST CASE: Kidneys respond well to the IV hydration therapy, then diet and subcutaneous hydration *at home* maintain life as a fully functional bozo. For how long is a dog by dog adventure. Bottom line - we'd get some real time. Which is all we ever had - I'll just be in that daily holy-SH!T-YOU'RE-STILL-HERE gratitude zone for the duration."
What WE can do to support this is to come up with a few bucks to help Judith manage the close-to-$3,000 bill for the vet, so that all she has to worry about is keeping Z comfortable and maintaining that level of gratitude.
Those of us who remember Judith taking her time to support sick people in the hospital owe it to her and her furry friend. Those who don't remember that could just take my word for it and help out a good friend and family member!
