Help Russ

Donation protected
Hi everyone. My name is Colleen and on Friday November 22,2013 my dad, Russ fell and seriously injured himself. When he fell, he hit his head on a concrete floor which resulted in 2 skull fractures, 2 fractures around his orbital bones, a fracture in his neck and a bleed on his brain which controls speech comprehension. He is also on a ventilator. He has not been fully conscious since his fall. He vomited and aspirated it into his lungs before medical attention could be provided. Currently he is in a LaCrosse, WI hospital in the critical care unit. The neurosurgeon classified the bleed on his brain moderate to severe, but it has not grown bigger and has stopped. While I was up at the hospital, he would have episodes of what appeared to be consciousness. He would open his eyes and try to sit up but would then soon close his eyes again. The staff has told us that this could just be a reaction to meds or what not. My dad is a fighter. He is not one to be known to just sit or lay around. We were told he is not in a coma per say since he is able to move his extremities and sit up. He is being given pain medication and a sedative to keep him calm.

My parents live 3 hours away from LaCrosse. Dad was up north preparing to go hunting Saturday. Since dad is in the hospital away from home, my mom is losing wages and then there is my dad. He is also losing wages. Since dad took care of all the financials, my mom doesn't know what needs to be done to pay their mortgage, utilities or car payments.

This is where you come in. I am asking for help to raise money for my parents expenses and dad's medical bills and transportation closer to home. He does have insurance, but my parents will still have to pay a portion of it. Also at some point, my dad will need to have extensive rehabilitation.

My dad is a man who loves life, is an avid deer hunter and served his country when it was needed. He is a Vietnam Veteran who served 3 tours and was awarded a Purple Heart.

All I'm asking is to donate a dollar or two. Pass this on to your friends and family. Every little bit helps. My family thanks you for the time to read this and possibly donate.
