Starting Over

Donation protected
Hi everyone! Many of you may know me from Twitter. I've been writing dumb jokes and giving my opinion on everything from politics to butternut sqaush for 7 long (but mostly fun) years. I hate to ask for help, but I really don't know where else to turn.

The abridged story:

I'm starting over. On my own.

15 years ago I was working full-time to pay for my studies when I found out I was pregnant. I know, I know. Immaculate conception it was not, but despite knowing I could not do all things at once, I decided to continue with the pregnancy. I put finishing my studies on hold with the hope of returning to them after life was less chaotic. Things never did seem to get less chaotic. A long time passed. Money and time were usually in short supply. I did not return.

As some of you know from my tweets, I have 'unique' children. I decided to home-educate when my eldest started reading just shy of his third birthday. His progression was not something a traditional school could support so I became the school. My ex-partner worked in a field that required huge amounts of time away, so I spent huge amounts of time alone with the children. Giving them whatever knowledge and support I had in me. 24 hours a day. I began to lose track of time.

Fast forward to now. I won't go in specifics about that relationship other than I have finally decided to move on from it. I knew that doing so would put me at a financial disadvantage, but I needed to get myself back. So here I am, without a degree, or a CV, and three children who are brilliant, yet still dependent. I'd love to study a bit again so I can go out into the world as something like what I'd hoped all that time ago.

So, I'm asking for help. To help me take a few classes locally, to get a working laptop, to help me get a tutor in (for the kids) for even an hour a week so I can have an hour to start writing again. Being school and caretaker and emotional support is a full-time job, one sadly without income.

I don't' expect help for free. I'm here and ready to give back in return - whether you need help with editing, or social media, or even helping your kids with homework via Skype. I'll send you something from my collection of odd books (trust me, they are odd). I'll write you a lovely poem for your grandma. Or my son (a pretty cool artist) will draw something for you - an avi, a caricature of your mother-in-law, a watercolour of a loathed politician eating from a landfill. Even a buck is helpful if you can swing it. And kind words are always appreciated. It's been a new start, scary and exhilarating. In the end, I want to make my kids proud.

Thanks for reading this far. And if you can, thank you for your help.
