Bring Keith Home

Donation protected
Our cousin, Keith, has recently suffered a serious stroke, and while he is defying all odds during the course of his recovery, we start this account to eradicate any financial burden so that he can focus on healing and returning home to his family.

Keith’s endurance has been tested by unexpected medical struggles in the last few years, battling each one courageously and admirably. In June 2016, Keith was in a severe car accident that required him to be airlifted to the hospital and to endure surgeries and intense rehabilitation and recovery.  Months later, doctors told Keith that he needed extensive open heart surgery.  Then, on February 8, 2019 Keith suffered a stroke that left him fighting for his life.  After spending several weeks receiving speech, occupational, and physical therapies, he has been moved to a sub-acute rehabilitation center as he continues his recovery with the goal of going home.

Taking each obstacle in stride, Keith exudes positivity and radiance that is worthy of the highest praise.  Not only is Keith’s attitude commendable, but he has served as the primary financial provider of the household and principal caregiver as his dear wife, Maureen, lives with multiple mobility limiting conditions.  All the more reason that Keith needs to get home.

We want Keith and Maureen to focus on their mutual health and rehabilitation without having to worry about struggling with living expenses and extensive medical costs.  More than that, though, Keith and Maureen need to install a ramp at their home to maintain their independence and ensure they can live at home.  They also need to renovate their bathroom to decrease safety hazards and make it accessible for the both of them.  Keith continues to defy the odds as he moves to sub-acute rehabilitation less than two months after the event.  He is doing everything in his power to rehabilitate, to focus on his therapy, and to get himself home.  The least that we all can do is help him and Maureen not have to worry about basic living expenses, their medical bills, future care, and creating a home that is safe and allows them to participate in activities of daily living independently.  The money will be utilized by their son, Matthew Van Ness, to help pay for these expenses.

Anyone who has met Keith and Maureen recognize quickly that they are two of the most altruistic, honest, and generous people. They have faced every feat with physical, mental, and emotional strength, courage, humility, and grace. Together, our village can bring these two very deserving people comfort and function as well as release them from the worry of financial strain so that they can solely focus on healing and bringing Keith home to Maureen—where he belongs.
