Help Leslie Fight Lymphoma!

Hi, I would like to share the story of Leslie Johnson, one of Chesterfield County Public School’s amazing school bus driver. Leslie has been driving her routes in Chesterfield for 10 years, her current routes include Bettie Weaver Elementary, Robious Middle School, and Monacan High School. She has lovingly nurtured and safely provided transportation for many students in her 10 years. Sadly in April, Leslie was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal B Cell Lymphoma. Here in her own words are Leslie’s Facebook post from April 16, 2018... During Christmas I had my kids make ribbons to support loved ones who have battled or were currently battling cancer, so I could decorate my bus with them. I had no idea that 3 months later I would have to make a ribbon for myself. This past Thursday, after two biopsies and a month and 4 days of waiting, I was diagnosed with Primary mediastinal B cell lymphoma. A week from today I will start what will probably be the toughest battle of my life. The doctor said this is curable but I have to meet him halfway. I have ALWAYS been physically strong. My mental strength has lacked as far back as I can remember. I don’t quite know how to prepare myself mentally for this. I feel myself going in waves. I will catch myself slumped and feeling sorry for myself and I will pop up and “act” like it’s going to be ok and that I’ve got this. But at this moment, it is truly an act. How do I get myself to the point of believing it? I do know that I have the best friends and family. I am blessed beyond measure by the love and support shown to me. I know this is just going to be a bump in the road and lots of lessons to be learned. I plan on being a better individual mentally and physically after this is all said and done. I just ask for prayers of strength and clarity so I can take away everything that’s meant for me to learn. It’s so crazy how fast ones life can turn around. One minute I’m flirting and laughing with the male nurse putting my IV in and the next minute I find out I have a mass in my chest and my world just stops. Thanks for listening and thanks for your prayers! I couldn’t say anymore than what she shared in her own words and this is why we are setting up this Go Fund Me account. Leslie won’t ask but she needs help to cover her co-pays. She will go through 6 cycles of in patient chemo 5 days a week 24 hours a day for a total of 30 chemo treatments that will end in August. She cannot drive her 3 bus routes for the remainder of the school year or summer so that she can mount the physical fight and avoid infections. This battle needs to be won so that she is here to care for her 2 boys, Jacob and JP (who is only in first grade). Without driving the summer bus route she will lose money that she needs to fight this fight with mental and emotional wellbeing and not worrying about how she will pay for her treatment. If 250 friends donate $20 each, we would raise all the funds necessary to cover her co-pay maximum and any medications. Thank you so much for reading this! ❤️
