Team Teairra

Hello, my name is Lynette Flores. Today I ask that you take the time to read Teairra Mason’s story and help me raise money for Teairra’s medical expenses. Teairra is a dear friend of mine she is a 19 year old 2016 Niagara Falls High school graduate . 6 years ago Teairra was diagnosed with VKH disease an extremely rare autoimmune disease which caused Teairra to go blind in both eyes. Teairra has undergone countless surgeries at Cleveland Clinic to attempt to restore her vision, Doctors were able to restore vision in her right eye, as for her left eye the procedures and surgeries were unsuccessful and Teairra was left legally blind. Now, 6 years later doctors believe that same same autoimmune disease is attacking her central nerve system, but can not say for sure. The attack on Teairra’s central nerve system has left her in a very debilitating state, within a year Teairra has became total care, unable to eat, she is having trouble speaking, close to not being able to speak at all, within the past week she has not been able to walk. She can no longer do any activities of a daily living. Teairra is currently inpatient at Gates Vascular institute. Once she is stable she will be moved to a subacute facility for extensive long term inpatient rehabilitation. She will also be followed by neurology at Cleveland Clinic as an outpatient. Doctors say Teairra will live with this and the only treatment for her is physical and occupational therapy. Teairra has had her mother Jackie Mylar by her side since day one, as a mother should be. Jackie is a single mother of 3 staying strong for Teairra all while still trying to provide and care for her other children. Unfortunately Jacky has exhausted all 12 weeks of her Family Medical leave, and all of her sick time at work and is now facing discipline. Trips back and forth between hospitals, missing work, paying medical bills, living expenses, and providing for her family. Jackie has so much weight on her shoulders, I am asking for donations to help Teairra and Her mother out. Anything helps, even the smallest donation is greatly appreciated.
