Two weeks ago, I had a stroke. I'm 29 years old and otherwise incredibly healthy. After baffling the doctors, they spent 4 days running tests on me which revealed the fact that I have a hole in my heart (Atrial Septal Defect). Good news, it can be repaired. More cardiologist followups will yield clearer information. As I heal and wait for further recommendations, I need help. From medical bills to living expenses to followup treatments and holistic supports, I'm relying on the generosity of others for the time being. I've already been amazed at the outpouring of love and support cradling me through this terrifying and intense experience. I'm so grateful for the great goodness of my fellow human beings.
In the mean time, my life has completely changed. The right side of my body is in near constant pain, and my arm and face go through phases of numbness, weakness, coldness, and other bizarre things. My brain doesn't quite work the way it used to, and things like language and logic prove difficult (I've had to edit this 5 times for spelling and grammar mistakes I'd never make before). I confuse right and left, and often fail to translate information from thought to action. I'm fatigued constantly, and get dizzy when moving about for more than 30 minutes. Needless to say I'm ordered not to drive or bike.
Since my work was caring for children, it is impossible for me to do at the moment. Many tasks are proving difficult, so I'll need to care for myself, rest a lot, and be gentle in order to facilitate healing. The doctors do think I'll have 100% recovery. The timeline seems like a minimum of 6 months to that point.
Anything you could offer is so much appreciated.
Know that I fully intend to continue my work of teaching mindfulness and meditation to children, families, and youth in all the ways I can. This work occupied most of my time prior to this experience, and it is what lies near and dear to my heart. So your support not only benefits me, but also many others.
