Tyler Bandelin's Continued Fight

Donation protected
I know I haven't posted anything lately about Tyler Bandelin. So here goes. Tyler has pretty much been in and out of the hospital too many times to count this last 10 months. He has been in the hospital more time than he has been out. He hasn't been able to work since last July which has been a real struggle. Due to the recent news he will need to sell his car he worked very very hard to get. His first loan, getting his credit established, and it was a big day for him. So, if anyone is looking to buy a 2014 ford focus SE he is selling his for what he owes on the loan. Low miles, very nice car for $10,000. But anyway that is not the reason for this post. We were given news last Tuesday that Tyler will need a kidney, bladder and pancreas transplant. It is a very critical time and his health is not improving. On Thursday he had a feeding tube placed permanently which is a big lifestyle change. He has been in the hospital 2 weeks today and really appreciates visitors. However, no outside food will be allowed for him. They need to do very strict carb counts, calorie counts, etc. This morning his potassium count was at a very dangerous level and his EKG was abnormal, they now have him on a holter monitor to get a sense of what is going on. We are waiting on things to get coordinated at U of M for us to go down and see what the plan is for his transplants. The nephrologist said this is a dire need and without it we are looking at months instead of years with Tyler. With that being said, Tyler is now nervous, yet excited because he will actually have a better quality of life than what he has faced in the last 4 years with much worse clinical issues in the last 10 months. He has been diagnosed with severe gastroparesis recently as well so he has to be very vigilant and only eat certain foods and avoid many of the foods Tyler loves. Currently due to his clinical needs he needs 24/7 care and social workers are looking at finding him a facility or adult foster care so all his needs can be met. He continues to battle his depression and put a smile on his face as much as possible. But with every hospital visit we get more and more news and medical issues added to his already frail system. He has diabetes type 1, chronic diarrhea, stage 4 kidney disease ( they are functioning at about 20% on a good day), severe gastroparesis, needs to straight cath 3-4 times a day because his bladder won't completely empty itself, he's been battling UTIs, bladder, and kidney infections, he has orthostatic hypotension, his wrist is still healing from breaking it due to a fall at the beginning of March, depression, anxiety, macular degeneration (which requires him to get shots in his eyes), just had his 2 front teeth fixed after having another fall, and malnourished (hence the feeding tube being put in). I'm sure I'm forgetting some issues but this is his life in a nutshell at this time. The donations will help Tyler continue to pay off his debt (car payment, insurance, cell phone, and 2 credit cards). Gas money to go back and forth to U of M, hotel, meals, and everyday living. It will also help with my lost wages for when we have to go down there for multiple days. We've been trying to manage without going further into debt but I'm not going to lie it's been a very expensive, but worth every penny, journey to get answers and get to where we are today. Asking for money is the last thing we ever thought we would have to do. His biggest concern. ( Which makes me laugh) is his credit score and not having his car reposesed. If anyone has any questions, concerns, etc. Please ask. If you have time please reach out to him or go visit. He needs all our love and support. I won't know any info about donating a kidney until we go to U of M. Thanks for taking the time to read the newest info on Tyler. Keep him in your prayers, thoughts, etc. If you'd like to send him a card or anything to brighten his spirits please do!!! Our address is Tyler Bandelin 431 N. 57th AVE. W. Duluth, MN 55807 If you are sending a check please make it out to me Jessica Lehet as I will be handling everything and making sure everything is taken care of while he is fighting to get better. I will continue to update when I know more.
