I am raising money for...My Husband, Shane Hammond. Through the years he has worked in many public service agencies. Anywhere from volunteer firefighter and fire chief to police officer, emergency medical technician and numerous community activites. Shane has four boys that love him dearly. Austin who is 12, Jacob who is 9, Luke who is 8, and Blake who is 3. We have been married for five years and met at the emergency medical services that we both worked at. Shane loves his family and puts his faith in God.
In 2005, He was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy (an enlarged heart), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), and Diabetes at the age of 32. There was also a defibrilator/pacemaker placed to \"shock\" him if his heart had any type of problem. He was also placed on numerous medications. He did very well on all this treatment for five and a half years.
In March of this year his health took a turn for the worse. He could not even get up and walk to the restroom without having shortness of breath. He had swelling in his feet, legs, and abdomen. We went to the ER and he was transferred to Birmingham. He was placed in the ICU. The doctors told us his CHF had worsened and that he may need to go on the heart transplant list.
After numerous doctors visits and hospital stays he is now back in the Heart Transplant ICU at UAB. He is facing a possible upcoming surgery with a heart pump to help take the \"work\" off his heart until a transplant heart can be found. We have a long road ahead of us but, through God all things are possible.

The money collected will go towards...His medical bills. Even though we have medical insurance the numerous doctor visits and copays, cost of medications, and transportation to the medical facilites in Birmingham puts a severe finacial strain on our one income family. Due to the uncertainity of what lies ahead withthe possible heart transplant or further complications any monetary donation would greatly be appreciated. May God Bless You.

Supporters can also help by...keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers.
