Beautiful Warrior

Brunine David...beautiful warrior with a fierce, yet delicate soul. Her family calls her “Matiti” - a sweet French nickname which means “my little daughter”. Diagnosed with breast cancer on October 21, 2016. Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation...and she’s still here. With us. Silently showing us all what survival, against all odds, is all about. I’ve known Brunine since 2014. She welcomed me to our workplace with open and loving arms. I’ve yet to hear her complain. Through all of this, she continues to smile this infectious and deeply spiritual smile. She works tirelessly every day to serve others, always putting her needs last. And she’s still here. Recently, Brunine completed her cancer treatments. She prepared for her PET scan, which would reveal to her whether or not she is free of this cancer that has taken over her life for 16 months. When she arrived for her scan, she was informed that her health insurance will not cover the scan, and she would need to pay $1,200.00. As she listened to this news, she realized that she would get dressed and return home. She doesn’t have the means to pay for this procedure. Heartbroken, she confided the news to me. I told her I wanted to help. For someone who would never reach out to others for help, I felt it was time to break the news to Brunine that it was her turn. She deserves to know whether she is cancer-free. Whether she will continue to affect so many with her love. With that beautiful smile - a smile so genuine that if you are graced with it, your day can only be wonderful. Please help me help Brunine. Let’s free her from worry and fear. I need Brunine to continue showering me with sunshine. And so does our community!
