My Uncle Dave and Aunt Cindy are amazing, kind, wonderful and caring people. Three years ago, tragedy struck their family when their son Jared died by committing suicide. Although they were heartbroken, Dave and Cindy continued to move forward in love and spread joy to others and their two surviving children, Nick and Brooke. Through this adversity, their family grew closer and stronger - so when my Uncle Dave was injured at his UPS job they remained optimistic for a healthy outcome. Uncle Dave had undergone continuous treatments over the last 24 months, and during the process lost his disability insurance. We have all been faced with difficult choices in life - do we pay the rent or put food on the table? Do we pay for costly insurance or clothes for our kids? They chose rent, and food, and clothes over costly health insurance.
Tragedy struck again for these wonderful people on Thursday night - my Uncle Dave had a major heart attack at home. He was taken to the hospital and is in very critical condition. They placed stints in his heart, and inserted a balloon pump. His kidneys are struggling and he had to be flown to cardiac specialists in Denver.
My Uncle Dave may never recover, but if he does, what will he face? He will be on the verge of bankruptcy from yet another tragedy. We all make difficult choices every day, and we all pray for the best, but this wonderful man and this beautiful family don't deserve to fight such a hard and long battle to get to the end and be facing a financial abyss.
Please help my Uncle Dave - Dave Schilling - to see a light at the end of this dark tunnel. Every and any amount you could contribute to his medical costs will help the family enormously. They have already gone through so much, and carry their heavy loads with lightness and love. May God always keep you in good health, and should that fail, may he keep you in good company to lift you up when the times are trying to push you down.
