The Fibroid Foundation is heartbroken to share that our beloved Director of Development, Karen Janus, has passed away following an unexpected and devastating medical emergency.

Karen was the heartbeat of our organization. Her compassion, tenacity, and unwavering commitment to advancing equity in women’s health touched lives across the country. But more than anything, Karen was a mother and grandmother. Her deepest devotion was to her family.

She leaves behind two grandchildren: a teenager with special needs and a young adult just beginning their journey into adulthood. Karen was their rock, their caregiver, and their fiercest advocate. In the wake of her passing, they are now navigating life without the woman who raised and protected them.

As we grieve, we’re also rallying behind the family Karen loved most. Donations made through this fundraiser will go toward establishing a trust to support her grandchildren in the years ahead, helping to provide them with stability, care, and the resources they need to move forward.

Karen spent her life giving to others. Today, we have the opportunity to give back.
