Every child deserves a visit from Santa!
Sitting in the heart of the great Appalachia Mountains is a little place called Tazewell County. A county of rugged beauty in its landscapes, culture and people. Rural Appalachia boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world; proud mountain ridgelines and dazzling sunsets remind us of the wonderful community we've fostered in the mountains for generations. Where coal mines boomed and anything seemed possible, once upon a time....
Now our children are facing a dark and scary future. Our community's struggle with poverty, job loss and drug addiction which threatens our economy, our education system, and our families.
A true story of riches to rags, where grandparents are having to raise their grandchildren, where children go to bed hungry every night and they will tell you without hesitation they miss their mother, father or often times both. We are a place where foster homes are full, where people cry when they receive a food box and people sleep in their vehicles, but blend so well with the rest of the population that no one notices.
White Christmas is a program that hopes to bring a small ray of sunshine, a little drop of hope and make a Merry Christmas for these children. As of this writing we have almost 700 children that we need to provide Christmas for. I am sure this number will grow the closer to December 25th.
