Faith’s Recovery Fund

Faith has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and Cortical Vision Impairment. She underwent a 9 hour surgery on March 26th, 2018. She had bilateral:Tibial Distal Femur Proximal OsteotomyAnkle Gastrocnemius Recession w/Strayer Femoral Proximal Osteotomy Calcaneal Slide Osteotomy She was in the hospital for 5 days and then will be home here until her bones heal which can be anywhere from 6-8 weeks. During this time she is non weight bearing with 1/2 casts and full immobilizers on. We are up around the clock to give her Valium for the muscle spasms and Dilaudid for the pain. It takes two of us to transfer her to and from the couch and commode. At week 3 we go back to the Doctors where they will take her casts off, take x-rays, pull the pins out of both feet and then recast her. At this time she will get measured for special braces that she will have to wear when she is completely healed too. When she comes home then we will start PT for her hips and upper legs. When she is healed then she will get admitted to Kennedy Krieger in Baltimore for 4-6 weeks of inpatient therapy where she will have to relearn how to walk with her walker and canes.When she returns home she will then continue both physical and occupational therapy. As you can see this was an intense surgery with a long recovery. The medical bills will be pouring in soon. With so many people asking us how they can help and what Faith needs we decided to start a Go Fund Me Account. We do not receive any medical assistance and won’t be able to until she is 18. Each year the medical bills get higher and higher. We apply for a yearly grant of $2000 but it’s not guaranteed. It’s a lottery so sometimes we get it and sometimes we don’t. I can not thank each and every one of you! It’s your love and support that mentally gets me through some days.
