Help Mojo’s Road To Recovery

Donation protected
On Friday 3/30, Kasey came home from work to find Mojo in pain, laying in her own urine. Upon bringing Mojo outside, it was discovered that mojo had lost much of her motor skills in her back legs and was unable to control her bladder. Kasey rushed Mojo to the emergency vet where they immediately took her into care and kept her overnight.
Saturday 3/31, Mojo's condition had worsened overnight, but she still had mobility in her legs, could feel her toes, and could urinate on her own, which were all good signs. She went under anesthesia for her MRI where it had been confirmed that she had herniated a disc in the middle of her back. She was immediately taken to emergency surgery where they removed quite a bit of disc material and a blood clot. Luckily, her spinal cord seemed to still look ok.
Sunday 4/1, the doctor said Mojo had again worsened overnight. Neurologically she was only doing fine. They were needing to express her bladder because she couldn't on her own. She then had to spend another night in the ICU.
Monday 4/2, Mojo seems to be doing about the same as the day before. She cannot use her back legs and has very little motor function, but can still feel sensation. The doctor said it's going to be a lot of work and rehabilitation but they think she has a good chance of regaining function of her back legs again one day.
Evening of 4/2, Kasey and James brought Mojo home after learning how to express her bladder, since she cannot do that on her own right now. That will need to be done 3-4 times a day, as well as exercises and massages for her back legs done 3-4 times a day. Mojo is on many medications through out the day, so it's great that Kasey can bring Mojo to work with her and can take care of all those things herself.

As many of you know, my sister's dogs are her life. Between the surgery, MRI, anesthesia, pain medicine, hospital stay, and sedation at night to help Mojo sleep, the vet costs are going to be $8,000-$10,000. On top of that, Kasey will also need supplies, supplements, medication, and physical therapy to help Mojo rehabilitate. It's going to be extremely difficult for Kasey and James to cover all the expenses on their own. I would hate for them to have to take on extra overtime and work on weekends instead of using their free time to help rehabilitate Mojo. ‪ Mojo has always been an extremely playful and energetic dog, and every penny donated will help her get back to that happy dog she was.

Thank you all so much ♥️‬
We will keep you all updated.
