Caleb Goldman - Youth Inventor

Caleb is a 5th grader at Sandown North Elementary school, and by watching his dad work as a volunteer fireman came up with an idea to help first responders navigate their way to emergencies. “Light The Way” uses computer technology and GPS to look at road closures, bus, and train schedules and then maps the responders to the scene of the emergency by changing street light colors to guide responders. Caleb’s and his mentor, Andrew Denoncour worked extensively to design and build the demonstration board and a working prototype. Caleb learned about soldering, programming, and how to build things. At the Sandown North Invention Convention “Light The Way” won both Viewers Choice, and First place for 5th grade.
He was then invited to attend the “state competition/regionals” at SNHU on March 25th amongst several hundred other inventors.
At the regionals “Light The Way” was awarded “Most Original and Unique.”Caleb was honored and so happy.
This week we got an email inviting Caleb as a finalist to the National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE) in Dearborn Michigan at the end of May.
The total cost of the trip will be well over $2,500 between flights, registration and, lodging.
We are trying to raise funds to help Caleb, and his family go represent Sandown, Sandown North, and NH at the National Invention Convention.
While there they will spend time with other youth inventors and tour the Henry Ford Museum, the Ford Edge factory and participate in many other youth inventor and entrepreneur activities. This is a great opportunity for Sandown to be represented on the national stage. We are very excited, but will need the support of friends and family.
