Help the Tanzi family!!

This is my son, Cody James. Cody loves trains, playing outside, and reading his favorite books about Thomas the Tank Engine.

Cody is three and a half years old and was born with a severe case of a blood disorder called spherocytosis. Spherocytosis is a condition that causes an abnormality in the red blood cell membrane. Red blood cells suffering from spherocytosis are smaller, rounder in shape, and more fragile than healthy red blood cells. The rounded shape causes the red blood cells to be caught in the spleen, where they are destroyed.

All of this causes Cody constant fatigue, shortness of breath, intestinal distress, and extreme susceptibility to infection. Cody was diagnosed with this disorder when he was nine months old, and since then he has bravely endured countless trips to the hospital and 12 blood transfusions. In cases of spherocytosis like Cody's, doctors recommend removing the spleen to help control symptoms. Cody's medical team had originally wanted to wait until he was five to perform the surgery, however, due to the severity of Cody's case:we can't wait any longer. Doctors are already prepping him with vaccinations for surgery in November.
Since Cody's diagnosis, I have had to give up my job and be a stay at home mom because Cody's compromised immune system prevents him from going to day care. Cody's Father works between 60-80 hours a week to support our family of four. Cody has a nine month old baby brother, Zachary as well.
So here's the hard part... actually asking for help.
With a pile of medical bills already acquired over the past three years, we struggle every day to get by. While Cody is recovering from his surgery, Cody's father will be out of work to help me care for the boys. Between all previous hospital visits, his father has already used his annual sick and vacation time, and five weeks of no income will cripple our household. We humbly ask for donations which will be coupled with our savings to help cover hospital fees and living expenses for the time we are out of work. No donation is too small, and if you can't donate we ask for your prayers for a safe surgery and short recovery time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, and we wouldn't be able to do this without your love and support!
Sincerely and with heartfelt thank you,
Heidi Melanson and Family
