In 1986, a little boy and a little girl met on the first day of kindergarten on a jungle gym that surely wouldn't meet today's standards.
Fast forward 32 years, that little girl and little boy are all grown up, married, and madly in love. My name is Stephanie Rodriguez and I'm that little girl, married to Jimi Lee Rodriguez (mom reminds me I always called him by his full name as we were growing up ❤️).
In March of 2017 Jimi became ill and we didn't know why, months of testing, scans, and specialists later we learned that my love had end stage liver disease and varying levels of multiple major organ failure. We tried meds, procedures, life style changes. To no avail.
In January 2018 there was a last ditch procedure to slow the progress and relieve the symptoms. Sadly, it did not work. On March 9th, the doctors opinion came down that it was expected he had less than 6 months to live. The love of my life was enrolled in hospice.
Throughout this all, he has been unable to work, and for the last 5 months I've had to cut back my hours to aide in his increasing care needs and to be by his side. It has become nearly impossible to keep up with all the bills and day to day life. Medical bills alone are in excess of $20,000 after insurance. Cable and cell phones seem like frivolous luxuries to some, but Jimi has been bed ridden for months now - it is his only life line.
We are reaching out to you, our dear friends and family, in hopes of relieving the stress of some of the financial burden so we can focus on giving him the highest quality of rest and life for all the time that remains.
