Relief for Romear

Hello everyone. The Family and Friends of Romear are putting together this fund.

Romear (age 21) from Minneapolis, Minnesota, has suffered from asthma his entire life.  Unfortunately, during his vacation in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 20th, Romear was taken by ambulance to a Las Vegas Hospital due to a severe asthma attack. Soon after he went into respiratory failure and was placed on a ventilator.  Romear’s condition became critical and the medical staff alerted his family in Minnesota to get to Las Vegas as soon as possible. His Mom, Stepfather and younger Sister have been by his side, praying for his recovery.
Romear has spent more than 3 weeks in the Intensive Care Unit. The doctors placed him in a medically induced coma to help him breathe and relax so that his lungs and body weren't working so hard. A few days later one of his lungs collapsed (Pneumothorax) and a chest tube was placed to help shed any fluid buildup that he was accumulating in his lungs. He has developed blood clots in one of his arms from a PicLine and continues to suffer from Fungal Pneumonia.  He has also undergone exploritory surgery on his abdomen.  A long list of medications, testing and procedures have been performed including several blood/platelet transfusions and bone marrow biopsy. Because of the medications, he suffers from side effects such as sepsis, extreme weight loss, inability to walk, trouble talking and an increased heart rate.
Amongst all the trouble and pain, Romear finally has great news. He has been informed that as soon as he can walk again he can go HOME! Romear works daily with occupational  and physical therapy to gain muscle mass back and learn how to walk again. The Doctors have said that flying would be extremely risky for his condition, so he will need to be driven back to Minnesota.  Because of his weakened condition it would require that they take time and precaution not to cause to much stress on his body.
Once he returns home, he will need medical care including more OT/PT, tests, and overall recovery.
In all, Romear has been in the hospital for 9 weeks. Until now the family has asked for little to no help, but now is the time. The cost of staying by Romear’s side has exhausted them financially and there is a need for the costs associated with travel back to Minnesota along with continued medical care. We are asking for your help in assisting Romear and his family in anyway that you can, whether it be any financial contribution, or by offering resource information, or even just sharing this post.  Most Importantly Prayers, and keeping Romear in your hearts. Romear and his family have been through a rough couple of months, please help in assisting them back home.

The Family & Friends of Romear Thank you from the bottom of their hearts for anything you can do!
