Allow Me To Get This Off My Chest...

Hi folks, I’m Semi. I don’t expect this to go viral at all so those who know me understand how prideful and stubborn I am. They know how difficult it is for me to open up, let alone reach out to anyone. They also know I’m transgender and like some transgender folks, I battle with gender dysphoria. It is an everyday, every moment war within myself. I began medically transitioning in January 2015 with hormone replacement therapy. Although hormones have helped a great deal with easing gender dysphoria related depression, it’s still only the first step for me. I am currently in pursuit of reconstructive chest surgery. Between my fiancé, who helped research local surgeons and a couple friends who had the same surgeon/procedure and shared their results with me, I decided on Dr Guy Jones who has a practice in Norfolk, Va. I went to my consultant last October (2017) and set my surgery date a year out (October 2018) so I can make payments on my own terms. Since my consult, I have been doing all I can to make and save money, including grooming tips and donating Plsama. Dr Jones and his staff are extremely accommodating and allow me to pay any amount, anytime. In addition, If I pay it off early, I can have surgery earlier. I am hoping to have surgery first week of July. So far I only have $2000 left to pay, $1300-1400 of which will be paid first week of April. That being explained. I decided to put my pride, stubbornness and fear aside and reach out for help with the last bit. As I first opened this Gofundme App, I felt (and still feel) guilty. I seen all of the successful campaigns, the people and their reason behind them. I always told myself that there are others who need help more than me. And I have fought back the fear of not “making it”. Truth is, it’s not the lack of donations that scared me most, but the fear of feeling alone. So if you can not donate, that’s okay. Even sharing my campaign helps. Is my journey to live my authentic self as important as another’s? I’ve been told many times it is. And so, getting that off my chest... will you help me with the rest?
