JUSTICE FOR JASON-ASSAULT VICTIM

UPDATE: ITS BEEN ALMOST 9 MONTHS SINCE THE ASSAULT, PLEASE READ THE LATEST UPDATE ON LATEST HAPPENINGS.  On Wednesday night 3/21/18 my husband Jason Michael Hruby was attacked while returning from a job interview and left for dead. Jason is an Addiction and Mental Health counselor who has dedicated his life to helping others. He is a highly intelligent man with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology with post graduate education as well who now suffers from severe head and brain trauma. Initially being found face down in the snow, he was brought to Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse in a severe hypothermia state and bleeding from his brain and stomach. He has 3 brain bleeds and multiple skull fractures (a subdural, subarachnoid and an intraventricular bleed) including a severe occipital (back of the head) fracture. Also several left sided facial fractures and multiple right sided skull fractures. He was intubated and placed on a ventilator. Although now breathing on his own, he has severe and debilitating memory loss unable to provide even basic care for himself. He now needs extensive neurological and physical therapy rehabilitation. Although as an RN I have fairly decent insurance, but it won't cover everything. There will be months, if not years, and maybe lifetime care he will need. Although hoping and praying for the better, it is scary going forward. Not only has he lost memory and some abilities, his degrees and education he has worked so hard for may never be used again. Also, there is a loss of his income to assist with our normal expenses. This feels very strange to ask for help as both of us have spent our lives helping others so if this is too forward I apologize. Please, if you cannot donate, please share. Also all prayers are welcome. I'm re-sharing this with some updates: 1. No, the police have never found who did this. There is a video of part of the assault but according to the court it is not definitive enough to use in court. 2. Yes, the hospital bills are more than $450,000 and still adding up. 3. Yes, we are thinking of doing a benefit, suggestions would be appreciated. 4. Yes, he is still in neuro/ speech therapy, PT and OT therapy weekly. 5. He has good days and bad days. He is still extremely dizzy and off balance ALL the time. He has constant headaches. 6. Yes, he is using a cane for support and if longer distances a walker. 7. He still sleeps almost 20 hours a day. 8. Noise, light and stress bother him. 9. He can dress and bathe himself although supervised. He tends to fall or almost fall several times a day. 10. Outwardly he is looking much better. Inwardly, his brain is still very affected. Memory problems are vast. Short term memory is much like an early dementia patient but progressing slowly unlike actual dementia that gets worse not better.   He does not remember anything of the assault but has night terrors now from it.
