Finding Comfort On The Road Again

Donation protected
Hello Friends, Family and Supporters! Please bare with me as I try to explain to those that might not know Lance personally, the many reasons why he is so deserving of this fund and why I am asking for your support. The Backstory - Lance Comfort in his earlier years had always been well liked by everyone around him. He was successful in school with a promising future, a talented artist, a bit of a ladies man and let's be honest, a huge Sci-fi nerd :) I can't tell you exactly how others viewed him, but as his little sister, I thought of him as one of the coolest guys on the planet and have adored and admired him my entire life. I can't tell you the exact year that Lance's kidneys began to fail since I was so young then, but I can tell you that I was in the 3rd grade when he received his 1st kidney transplant. I remember him having to leave college and move back home which I'm sure wasn't easy on him for many reasons. I remember everyone thinking that the worst was over now. That he would be able to to back to college and live the life of a normal 20 something year old man again. Which is what he did until his body started rejecting the transplant, requiring a second in order to survive. The odds were stacked against him as it is not common for someone to receive 2 transplants in their lifetime but somehow Lance had beat the odds and a donor had came through with another opportunity for a fresh start. He was able to return to school and had even met and married his soul mate Eusavia, beginning their happy life together. Unfortunately, the 2nd kidney was not compatible and had now been told that he needed a 3rd transplant in order to survive. Lance has battled kidney failure for over 25 years! Years of dialysis, countless surgeries and many other mentally and physically grueling obstacles that have taken their toll on his body causing his heart to slowly give out causing him to have strokes and of course the ever dreaded, cardiac arrest. He is no longer physically able to receive a 3rd transplant even if the perfect donor presented itself. So now it is time for Lance to live life to his fullest and enjoy the many things we all take for granted during the remainder of his time here on earth. (Admitting that never gets any easier.) Current Situation and How You Can Help! While reading various Facebook posts the other day, I stumbled upon a post that Lance had written, inspiring me to start this fund and I decided to share it with you all as I think you will understand why he is so deserving. Please read his post I have pasted below. "OK, so here's my quandry: I have been in a wheelchair for the past year or so, and later this month I am getting fitted for a new power chair so that I can get around on my own( I weigh 112 lbs so the wheelchair is hard for me to push around ). Anyway, in order to go anywhere, we need to get a wheelchair van. Our 4Runner is 18 years old anyway, so we are due for a new vehicle. New, and newer used wheelchair conversions are hella expensive, costing around $40k which is really about twice what we were planning on paying for a car. I am looking into grants and such, but it was suggested that I try doing a Go-Fund Me thing. I'm don't know if I feel right about doing that. It's not like we live in poverty. Please give me your two cents on the matter..." As his little sister, how could I not take this upon myself to start this fund in hopes of giving him the one small joy and luxury in life of being able to be mobile again? He deserves the dignity of having a vehicle that can transport him to the hospital or doctors appointments. To see his family at Christmas or to just get out of the house where he spends so much time unwell. So, what I am asking you is for support. Please help support Lance in accomplishing this goal and raise the money he needs to afford a wheelchair conversion, on a decent vehicle that allows him and his wife to keep a small piece of normalcy. Support is shown in many ways and I am asking that if you cannot afford to support finacially, or even if you can, just share share share! Even just a dollar ads up but the sharing is priceless and much appreciated! The goal amount is set at 40k. I do not know much about the conversions myself but I do know that Lance is doing his homework and will be a frugal as possible. That being said, we might be able to lower the current amount we are trying to raise, but we will keep you updated as we move forward. Thank you all for your time!
