Hi, my name is Tracey, and I live in California. I believe I have the most amazing life, because of the many wonderful people, I have in it. My best friend Nicole, who lives in Ohio, I consider to be my dearest friend, in the whole world. Nicole is a hardworking, single mom, who dedicates her entire existence, to providing pure joy and happiness, in her 11 year old daughter Sydney’s life. Anyone who knows Sydney will tell you, she lights up a room, with the mere sound of her laugh, or a small glimpse of her beautiful smile. Further, give Sydney a few moments of your time, and you will soon realize, the sun shines brightly, EVERY DAY, in her world, despite what any weather report may say.
So, imagine my devastation, when I received a heartbreaking call, from Nicole, informing me, that after a recent medical visit, with Sydney, the doctor informed her, Sydney would require a four hour surgery, to remove a large mass, located near one of her kidneys, which was causing her pain.
At the time, doctors were unsure, whether the mass of cells were malignant, or benign, but one day, and a 9 hour surgery later, the 8 pound tumor, which had completely encapsulated one of Sydney’s kidneys, had been successfully removed; unfortunately, due to the invasive nature of the tumor, Sydney’s kidney was also removed.
Although the surgery was a success, doctors discovered other abnormalities, from her CAT scan, which will require an additional battery of tests, monitoring, and possibly aggressive treatments. Being a single mom, Nicole is all Sydney has, in the way of support, and with an increased certainty of time spent in/at the hospital, Nicole is incapable of continuing to work full-time, while remaining by Sydney’s side, through this painful process.
Living in California, I’m unfortunately, unable to provide her the basic comforts, needed to recovery, both physically, and emotionally, from this tragic event. As a result, I’m starting this GoFundMe account, in Sydney’s name, with a goal to raise $5,000, to provide financial assistance, to both Nicole and Sydney, as they embark on the challenge placed in front of them, over the next few months. Anything you are able to spare would go a long way, towards Sydney’s speedy recovery, and Nicole’s peace of mind.
