As1 - Parent To Parent Support

As1 needs you to to continue their good work.... Since joining forces a year ago, As1 has gone from strength to strength. They are totally self funded, with no help from any outside sources. Unfortunately there is only so much they can do, and as the group is growing in popularity, there are concerns about how long it can be continued and restrictions in expanding. Our current location is only secured on monthly contract which leaves us in deep threat should it become unavailable. As1 is a parent to parent support group that was founded by Kiesha Mcinnis and Charlotte Pearson who are both parents to children with additional needs. Being full time carers highlighted the lack of support that was out there, it also left them feeling secluded in a world they thought only they understood. Through sheer determination and a passion for their cause, they run monthly coffee mornings where parents come together for a very therapeutic morning session, parents and carers offer advice, share stories, ups and downs, they laugh, they cry, and they enjoy some well deserved down time with coffee cake and conversation and the occasional treat to brighten a carers day (also self funded) Every month the As1 family grows in numbers, running out of seats/over time is a monthly affair. As1 also run a online social media group where parents can share success stories, or vent about the not so good times, offer advice, ask for advice, raise awareness, and share information... this is also available via a more personal WhatsApp group for those who aren’t as comfortable with the public approach. We understand that not everyone is not able to donate in cash, but we would appreciate donations in other forms if you don’t have a few pounds to spare i.e plastic cups, tea, coffee, napkins, biscuits, bottled water etc Thank you so much for all the love, support and encouragement that everyone has shown so far...
